    Rather, Manaokauapō …
Rather, Manaokauapō would read something like ‘power of a night time rain.” The name as it stands, however, is not grammatical.

    Exactly. It’s fine …
Exactly. It’s fine if that’s you’re culture–in my parent’s country, they name kids based on the day of the week they were born. But celebs have a history of giving kids random names for and giggles.

I’d assume this was sincere, though, given his father’s heritage.

  3. Kamaka675 says:

    In Hawaii, it’s …
In Hawaii, it’s very common for Hawaiian children to be given very long, affectionate names. People rarely call someone by the entire name because that would be too cumbersome. However, it’s not unusual or stigmatizing to have a long Hawaiian name if you are Hawaiian and live in Hawaii. If you’re a crazy movie star, on the other hand, who has a vague affiliation with the Hawaiian culture by means of semen injection from a part Hawaiian movie star, on the other hand, that’s a different story.

  4. Kamaka675 says:

    Manakauapo is …
Manakauapo is ungrammatical. “Kaua” doesn’t mean rain; ua does. Ka is a definite article that goes before nouns. If they intended the name to mean something like ‘power of a stormy night,’ Manaokauapō would work. There would need to be a k-less possessive between mana and ka ua po. It appears the name was slapped together carelessly in a misguided attempt to seem cultural. His name might as well have been Kamaanāmākuanaʻaupō. It would have been more accurate with regard to his parents.

  5. Moanawahi says:

    Ohh i like it. …
Ohh i like it. Nakoa Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa. I so love it. And it so does have meaning.
    Nakoa wolf – Brave/warrior Wolf
Manakauapo – (combination) mana (spirit/strength), kaua (rain), and po (dark)
(the baby was born on a stormy night hence the name) – power from the rainy night
    Namakaeha – all knowing eyes

  6. gigantor21 says:

    Couldn’t the child …
Couldn’t the child just be named “Nakoa”? It’s a great name without the other 4. *sigh*

  7. Tones4me says:

    In some cultures …
In some cultures the meaning of the names is what is important. My friends from Thailand combines US and Thai words to mean Sandy Beach. It was required by their parents to have a meaning to the names.

    that lady is CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Yaye31 says:

    She truly is for …
She truly is for real. when she said the name of Lisa’s new baby, I really thought she was kidding. Then I looked up her biography and sure enough that is his name. What was she thinking? Why would you do that to your child? I do not have an issue with an unusual name, I mean I have an unusual name. My issue is the length of the name, What the Heck?

    Some celebrities …
Some celebrities are so pretentious…That’s the stupidest name I have ever heard.
